For the tenth anniversary edition of Fifteen Dogs, Coach House not only reissued the paperback using my original design, but also asked me to design a cloth edition. We went back and forth about how this should look, but mostly focused on where to place the dog (who we all think is Prince), and ended up with this central, large, exuberant position stamped in copper foil to echo the terracotta tones of a Greek vase, on which the original design was based. A matching copper cigar band holds the publisher’s info.

My original design has been used by many publishers in different countries around the world, which has been exciting to see.
