Plan Canada

magazine design
Client: Canadian Institute for Planners

Both myself and Michel Vrana art directed Plan Canada’s quarterly bilingual magazine for about four years, and started our collaboration by overhauling the entire design for the magazine. To start us off, I created a bold, simple nameplate design by modifying the typeface Archer, and to reflect the editorial direction (focusing on the publication being an place for ideas in the industry), each cover would represent a overall theme within the magazine, and sell lines would be kept to a minimum.

With the bilingual articles and features, equal weight was given to french and english texts through font choices and consistent placement.
